I'm not Dead, yet...

My apologies, I have mastered the ability to completely ignore my blog.  Not that I haven't been living a crafty life, just not "recording" it.
I have been extremely busy this year, lot's has happened... both of my parents have turned 70 ~  both celebrations have been fun.  I am a very lucky lady to still have both of my parents, they divorced 45 years ago, and I have no memory of them as a family unit, believe me when I say I have had my fair share of relationship issues, but, in the end I am blessed.  In addition to my folks growing old, so am I... I had the pleasure of celebrating one half of a century in June, it was a wonderful weekend spent with family. (very glad THAT is over)
Hubby and I took a road trip to Flagstaff, Scottsdale, and Santa Fe - I think we found the "real" Radiator Springs (not the Disney version).
Hope today finds everyone doing well, I am.

Playing at "the beach"!

Once again, I am a Winner!
During the recent NFL Superbowl I participated in "The Beach" Ustream "Scrappy Bowl".  It was a ton of fun, Kathryn did an amazing job hosting (as always).  She did random giveaways plus offered challenges on her blog to participate for the opportunity to win prizes.  Plus, in addition to all that fun, the ladies from the Stampendous design team blew thru with a blog hop for those of us who were at the Scrappy Bowl.

I was super lucky and won twice.  The first was from Quick Cutz, it included a die cut set called "Nesting Spray"  also included was a QuickStik, I already have (and enjoy) the quickstik so I will be sharing that with another crafty soul.

I also won an adorable "Wicked" stamp set from Deb at  she is a Close to my Heart Consultant and was a sweetheart to donate this set.

I love making Halloween stuff (tags, cards, layouts) I know I will be enjoying these stamps.

Thanks again to Quick Cutz and Deb Lingell for their wonderful donations and also, thank you Kathryn for saving me from having to watch that game!!  (and, thanks for taking a break so we could all watch the halftime show)

Hope you are having a wonderful crafty week, I appreciate you stopping in to check out my life adventure.

More goodies!

Last weekend was my fathers 70th birthday.  I spent the week helping his wife put together a lifetime achievement scrapbook.  Very straight forward, no embellishments, almost came off in a business style.  It was a fun project to do and a walk down memory lane for me, it involved so much of my childhood.
It was a weekend of fun and family.  My son and daughter in law came down from Oklahoma City for the weekend. Lance (my son) has been doing wood work, putting together a wood shop and learning as he goes.  He had asked if I had a project, something easy to learn with.  I asked for a ink caddy, sent him a few ink pads and told him to "go for it".  I have seen one very similar at a store here and had described it to him.

He did a great job and I'm gonna enjoy having my inks at my finger tips.

Today has been beautiful outside, hubby helped me stain the ink caddy, as well as, added a clear coat of satin poly to the cedar chicken wire frame that I use to display layouts.

I have been spending time in the loft mostly working on project life (still trying to finish last year) and finishing up some other "projects".

I am going to try to dig into the last pile of photos (prints) that are still left to be put into albums, dates, location & people labeled, (they are mostly 2000-2005).  If I ever get that project completed I'm entertaining the idea of starting to scan some of the more important photos of the years past that are not digital. I did some photo scanning last week to help put together a "slideshow" to play during my dad's birthday party.  But, then again, I might come to my senses!!

Thank you for stopping in to check out my life adventure.  Hope you have an awesome, crafty week!

Sunday night update!

Hubby and I had a very productive weekend!!  (and it feels great)
A year (or more) ago we purchased a printers tray, it was fairly beat up but usable.  We started going thru the "hidey holes" that someone would likely put "stuff", i.e. "sock drawer", jewelry box, old shoe box...etc.
We were happy with our personal finds, as well as, when out and about around town we would pick up a goody here and there. (mostly W's in various shapes and sizes).  Last Labor Day we spent the weekend with my Dad and his wife at their lake house, we did a little "junking" and found a much nicer printers tray.  Poetic, (?) my dad was a printer at the local newspaper when I was born.  After a year of "placing" stuff we finally got it glued down and hung up, this was truly a group (Hubby & I) project that we enjoyed.  There is nothing in this display that means ANYTHING to anyone except us, and I like it that way!

We also completed another project, my son had made this cedar frame (for another idea), I snagged it and asked him and my hubby to add chicken wire behind it.  We finally got it hung in my loft this weekend.  The idea is to display some of my layouts and tags, instead of "hiding" them in my books.
It was a relaxing and restful weekend, Grammy's tonight, then Monday all over again.

Scrappy Bowl submission #4

This is my submission for challenge #4 for the Scrappy Bowl hosted by Kathryn at the Scrap Beach.

The guideline was "flags on the play",  I originally wanted to string a banner using the title pieces "balancing act!", as you can see the original plan and the final layout were close but did not finished as planned.  I appreciate the starting point.  I had fun "digging out" my original die cut  machine, the Sizzix Sidekick, and played with the Classic Sizzlits.  Hadn't done that in a few years, I need to use them more often.  This was layout #1 of a total of 4 scheduled stories regarding my Granddaughters 4th Birthday, I will definitely use them on the other 3 layouts.

Scrappy Bowl #2 was fun, Thank you to Kathryn (hostess), Scrapadabadoo (on-line store), and all of the beautiful beach babes from Life on the {scrap} beach ning site and Ustream show followers who donated all of the beautiful prizes.

Today was also a fun day for me, a friend (Gretchen) who I met at the crafty retreat that I attended in November came over today to get crafty.  Thank you Gretchen, I enjoyed your visit and I loved the girls lunch out!  Til next time.
Thank you for stopping in to check on my life adventure.

Scrappy Bowl submission #2

This challenge was to use the colors from the teams that participated in the Super Bowl, (i.e., red, white, & blue).  I went to my "pile" of photos that need to be "done" and came across this photo.  This is my Mom with my Granddaughter and my Grandson a few weeks after he was born, in 2009.  She was visiting from Scottsdale, Az, the photo was taken by my daughters friend.
The papers are from my stack of old single sheets that I love and want to eventually use.  (I actually have 2 "stacks" one is single sided designer paper and the other is double sided) These are ever changing piles, I'm constantly adding to it as collections get down to a few sheets, they get added to this pile, and it is always the first place I go to when looking for single sheet layouts or cards.   The  red & blue cardstock are from Tim Holtz Core'dinations Distress collection.

Thank you for stopping in to check out my life adventure.
