Memories from 2010

Merry-Go-Round
 October "Road Trip"
 Santa Fe, New Mexico
During the photo project, in an attempt to save my sanity I have continued to create layouts and get inky.  This is what I created this weekend.

Side note: I thought I was in this century, bad news...DH found bunches more photos!!  Who on earth told him to do that???  I was feeling so good about my progress....
I am out of albums and next payday I will be going to purchase more.  Then back to the previous century... ugh! does it ever end???

Stepped completely out of my box....

Some of you are aware of the "photo project"  (direct from hell!) that I embarked upon. Over the last 3 decades I have accumulated a 4x4x4 foot cube/pile of photos and memories!  This project has been like opening Pandora's box.  In between the crazy walks down memory lane I change gears and "craft", the crafting is done out of a need to balance the crazy...  if ya know what I mean???  Today, while going thru some of the family photos I came across the 2 wallet sized photos of my Grandparents from their childhood, also a 5x7 from the year before they pasted.  Not one of my favorite layouts, but I did enjoy playing.
Break is over ---- back to the photos!!

Friends, i need them....

I love combining what I enjoy...
I have come to know some amazing artist thru the world of you tube and Ustream, it has been a lot of fun, getting to know these amazing people, having them open up themselves and their art has been a wonderful journey.  I say this because I find more and more of their influences showing up in what I love to do... example, this layout.  Some may say, it's "too busy", which it is, some may say, it's "unbalanced", which it is.  But, I say, it's one of my favorites!!  I have met one artist that Art Journals who says that her art is "scrapbookie" (her name is Journal Artista on you tube, check her out, she's amazing) ... I think with this layout, I would be tempted to claim that this scrapbook page is very, "art journalie".

12 X 12 Layouts & Loving it!!

This is a layout of Emma, my grand daughter, Crafting (stringing beads) at Mimi's....  super fun!
These are photos from when my cousin moved from Az to Tx in August of last year, we took her to "check out" the cowboys in Ft. Worth.  LOL

I have been having fun creating 12 x 12 layouts... I have discovered, with the help of friends, the most awesome sight that combines photos onto a standard 4x6 print.  So far I have been placing 2 photos onto one 4x6, which gives me 2 - 2x3's --- a few of those and a trimmed 4x6 or 5x7 opens up all kinds of fun.  The best part is that I'm getting 2 prints for the price of one... - Loving it!!
I'm still ordering matte prints from Walgreens home delivery, order over 100 and delivery is free, they are only .09$ each...  I see lots of layouts in my future....
btw, the Christmas craft boxes didn't hang out for very long...  oh well, there is always next year. LOL

Valentines swap @ Life on the {Scrap} Beach

Whose idea was this?????

This is 30...count them, 30 Valentines, personalized, for 30...count them, 30 individual swappers.
They were suppose to be in the mail on the 14th...oops, courtesy of mother nature and the freak weather it was postponed til tomorrow!!  woosh....good for me.  I was going to mail them before we went to Austin on Thursday for the weekend, but didn't, and since there was no post today (MLK day) tomorrow they will finally be on their way to Sunny California.
This was a fun swap and can't wait to get my Valentines from the other swappers.
Thank you Crystal for hosting this fun!!
I appreciate you stopping in to check on Jill's Life Adventure...til next time.

Once again...

Well, I shared with you how my "baby" turned 25, that was nothing ladies....  My first born turns 30 today!!  As I write this we are in Austin at my daughters home watching her 2 kiddos while her and her hubby are in Shreveport enjoying a weekend away.
Even tho it makes me feel incredibly old to be the mother of a 30 year old, I am very blessed that 30 years ago God placed her in my life.

Have a wonderful weekend...

Pictures are HERE!!

I am so excited, my photos arrived from Walgreens.com from our Christmas celebrations.  For those of you who do not print, at home, your photos for your projects you know the agony of having photos printed.  I have discovered that if I order photos at Walgreens and select the "to be mailed" option they are only $ .09 each, plus they print in matte format, which is my personal favorite, at the moment.  Plus, if you order over 100 prints delivery is free, my order arrived with in a few days, so waiting really wasn't a problem.
There are a couple of organizational challenges with having mass amounts of photos printed at once, I think I am finally starting to get a secure grip on what works well for me by doing this method.  I immediately grabbed the first envelop and before I even looked at all the prints I had ordered I went to work on this 2 page spread...

I am very inspired to work on these photos and get them in the book for the family to enjoy the memories of the most recent Christmas festivities.  Normally, what happens is, I pack up all the Christmas crafting supplies before I receive or print any photos, then, I don't want to drag those boxes back out until the following Christmas...well, not this year!!  I'm on top of it (for now)...  LOL
We will see how long this last before I get "sick" of scrapping Christmas and pack it away!

Just a footnote to let you all know that I survived the pangs of my "baby" turning a quarter of a century old.  I just have to remind myself that I am blessed that he is a quarter of a century old, healthy and happy.  The rest is just a number.  (But, I will tell you, there were a few moments yesterday when I had to stop and question, "when in the Hell did I get so Stinkin Old???"  you see, I'm still 22 myself, in my head & my heart)

Thanks for stopping in to check on Jill's Life Adventure, hope you all are having a happy, healthy, scrappy week.

Teresa Collins Welcome Home mini album (6x12)

Caution, this is photo heavy...

I made this mini album the last half of 2010 - I won the kit from Kathryn during one of her Ustreams on Life on the {Scrap} Beach.  I was really happy with the out come of the finished product.
Anyway, I gave it to my future daughter-in-law for Christmas, she seemed really happy to receive it.  It must have been good luck because the kids (her and my son) called us on New Year Eve (Dec. 31, 2010) to tell us that they had bought their first home!!  They live in Oklahoma City, about 4 hours north of us, so it will be fun to watch them make the house a home.

Layout Submission for a Challenge at Your Paper Pantry

While surfing around on the web today playing in the sites that I am a member I came across a challenge for a completed layout (photos included) using Cosmo Cricket paper.  I only own one pad of Cosmo, it is a Double Deck of Girl Friday and Ever After.  I used my Cricut and Paisley cartridge to cut the butterfly and flower paper embellishments, both cut in various sizes.  The hearts are from a single punch.

Commissioned Work

I was commissioned to create a variety of "Never-lose" Bookmarks to be used for Christmas gifts.  Needless to say the "pressure was on".  It's completely different creating for a thank you or for a gift from me, but to be paid to create a bookmark was a little intimidating.  I am really proud of the fact that no two are ever alike, so to get a one of a kind tag/bookmark that I am proud enough to sale and to have a minimum of 8 of these creations was overwhelming.  So, with "fear" hanging over my head the mother load of procrastination stuck it's ugly boot up my booty!!
In the end - and I do mean the 11th hour, when I could no longer put it off, these are some of what I came up with.  The client was thrilled with what I presented (a total of 14) she had agreed to purchase 8 and in the end took 11, so with that I guess that I came close to the expectations.

I took the photos before I added the fibers, I find they add a nice dimension on the bookmark but are a little difficult to get a good photo of the bookmark with them on.
I hope everyone is starting out their New Year with the view of the hopeful for what the year can bring to each and every one of us.
