Calvinball #26 Winstar World Casino, Blissful Day

This was the documentation of the first time we had a free room at the Winstar Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma which is the worlds largest casino.  It is completely weird to me that the worlds largest casino is not in some place obvious like Rio or Vegas, not drive thru Thackerville, which is exit #1 on I35 the very first exit once you hit Oklahoma, so everyone who lives in the Dallas/Fort Worth area drives and hour north to go leave their money.  I will say that while in the room, casino or at the pool you feel like you are at a nice hotel/casino so we enjoy going for the free room, we are completely cheap and we have our $50 to take to play with and when it's gone, we leave the casino...done!  Usually we are lucky enough to get a nights worth of entertainment out of that $50.

Calvinball # 22, in Ft. Worth

I was so stinking proud of myself putting together that paper wizard multi layer laser cut (I've had in my stash since 2009ish) embellishment, I wanted to cry when I opened it up and saw what needed to be done to put it together.  It's far from perfect but its done and in the book, better than in a box in my loft!! I also was able to put my hands on the ephemera from our day at the Fort Worth Stockyards, go me!!

Calvinball #21, Emma 7th American Girl Birthday pocket page front/back

 I loved finding this pocket page that accommodated all of these vertical photos taken at Emma's 7th birthday party at American Girl in Dallas Galleria.  The 6x12 horizontal layout was fun because it was so different!

I love this photo of my baby holding her baby as he turns one!!  These are some more of those very old papers I pulled from Chatterbox and Pink Paislee Queen Bee.  Loving getting these used up!

Calvinball #19, Super Cold

Our heat pump went out in January 2014 and it was the coldest on record here in Frisco!  Sara survived by hanging out in front of the space heater in our bedroom!  These are all scraps from my pet folder where I keep all my dog papers, stickers, and stamps - - so very, very old, but I love getting them used up!

Calvinball #18 January Project Life front/back

January started with Vince and I both sick as dogs, but that didn't keep us from having our traditional black eyed peas on the first.  We went to OKC to see Lance and Holly during January, it was such a change to watch Lance doing the work and Vince sitting and watching. I guess he has finally grown up.  We also sold the Ranger in January and of course Vince wouldn't even think of listing it until it was completely detailed by him!

Happy Anniversary Card

I have spent so much time in the scrap loft working on layouts for CalvinBall I all but forgot that our 33rd wedding anniversary is this Saturday.  I threw this together this afternoon using Amy Tangerine 6x6 Rise & Shine paper, plus DCWV glitzy glitter in blue using Tim Holtz (sizzix) celebrate thinlits dies, plus various stamps.

CalvinBall #15 Jill's Beautiful Happy 46th Birthday

This was created because of a point in the Calvinball rules that said a point could be added for scrapping with the color purple. Colored purple pattern paper was located in the depths of the scrap vault it was Making Memories, Be Inspired dated 2005, after I dusted it off I got out the clear gesso and gelatos on Stampin Up whisper white 12 x 12 and came up with this background foundation page. I went to town with purple foil paper punches and dies.  Pulled out some old stamps, memento grape ink 2 sticko vellum sticker sheets and what do you know, I did a purple layout!!  Surprise!!!

CalvinBall #14 Papa's Cowboy Hat

This layout was fun, I had a speciality cut apart piece of 12x12 that I had purchased at a retreat in November 2015, it was perfect for the pictures.  These were taken in Pflugerville 4th of July weekend 2014.  JT and Blake got a kick out of wearing Papa's cowboy hat, they thought they were tough little cowboys.

CalvinBall #13 Remember, I (heart) U

This was taken at JT's soccer game during the weekend that we went to Lana's to watch the kids so her and John could have a night away with friends.  My mom flew into Dallas to ride down to Austin to surprise everyone. This layout is mostly taken from my scrap bin, some are 6x6's that were pulled for other layouts that ended up in scraps.

Soccer Striker, Calvinball #12

This was a lesson learned layout, there was a point awarded for 15 elements on the Calvinball rule list.  that point was not worth it! I learned my hexagon wafer thin dies are not even, there is a top, bottom, and side.  I had a hard time coming up with 15 elements and in the end was even digging in puffy stickers.  it's a bad case of sticker sneeze but it's done and in the books. Plus I racked up 11 points for this one.

This was made with paper out of the scrap bin, which is becoming more and more manageable by the day!  I had fun digging thru all of my grey Thickers.

Yeah, & Let's Play Ball; Calvinball #10

I didn't think it was going to happen tonight, but I was able to sneak upstairs to the crafty loft and put together the layout that I laid together yesterday.  This layout uses some super old papers from the depth of the stash vault, some Chatter Box, and Pick Paislee Queen Bee, who knows what else???  It was my first attempt at the ever popular "stacking layers" that I see all over pinterest/you tube, (Obviously) I need help/practice... LOL  This layout is for JT's book to document his day spent with Papa & Uncle.

Calvinball #9, CR Smith Museum

Another layout completed this afternoon using, Echo Park, "All about a Boy" by Lori Whitlock.  I'm calling the layout, CR Smith Museum although the layout really doesn't have a title. JT and I went to the museum because of a visiting Lego exhibit and had a great day, not only because of the Lego exhibit but the American Airline part of the museum we found really exciting and interesting. This layout was fun to make, I could have embellished for days, as it was I went sticker and die cut happy.

Boys Love Toys, Calvinball #8

Been playing in the scrap loft today and made this layout featuring Echo Park collection "All about a boy" by Lori Whitlock.  It is a beautiful collection and was really easy to put this together.  However, being that it is for Calvinball I had to add some stamping and of course a few wood veneers since they have appeared on the rules list for points!

Calvinball layout #7 (I think)

John with his 2 precious boys, 4th of July 2014 weekend.

I'm thinking this is layout #7 and today is the 5th.  I also did 3 Christmas layouts that were all of the photo cards we received in 2014 since they aren't necessarily family I haven't posted them anywhere, So plugging along, to play & in the competitive spirit of Calvinball I feel like I'm getting bunches accomplished. GO ME!!!

YAY~~~  I found time to get a layout done!  I was over the card making...
This is a monochromatic, nothing but scraps, hand made elements layout, I went through my scrap pile and decided I had more pink scraps than any other color, decision made...lol

I've spent more time in the craft loft in the last 4 days than I have EVER!  I think scrubby is getting jealous - oh well. (he'll get over it).

Calvinball cards #1-#4

Cards are awarded 1/2 point for #Calvinball2016 I am in need of a birthday card this weekend for my stepmoms 70th birthday.  While I had the card stuff out I threw together 3 Easter cards, I need to make a few more of those.  I found some St. Patrick's confetti (in my stash) and I would like to make a few cards to prank a couple of friends with the confetti.  So for today, so far I've done 4 cards, hopefully I will be able to work on a layout this evening.

Calvinball #4 & #5 July 4 2014 Fireworks & Mimi's Kids

I have a Americana 12 x 12 envelope that I've had for years and years, in it is everything that I've ever owned in that category.  I had these photos from 4th of July in Pflugerville 2014 that I wanted to get into the book.  Sorry for the sticker sneeze, and stickle explosion, but hey I figured if I hadn't used them up in the last 10 years what was I saving them for??

During the same 4th of July trip I was able to actually be in a series of photos with the grandbabies.  A very rare occurrence, I wanted to get it documented. I used Carta Bella, Soak up the sun collection. Of which I have discovered I have double, I'm going to be sick of it by the time I'm done.

Hope everyone is having as much fun as I am playing along with Calvinball.  I'm having a terrible time with the gallery at Get It Scrapped, I'm thinking of no longer posting there and just use my blog. I sorta feel bad about it though because the comments and knowing someone is seeing my pages is really a nice part of the community over there.  I'll think about it....

Calvinball layout #3. JT's Week

Another layout for #Calvinball2016. I put this layout together for my grandson Jt's book, it's a brief collection of highlights from his first "solo" week long visit to our house here in Frisco, Texas.  I used Echo Park, "That's my BOY" by Lori Whitlock. I've had leftover pieces of the collection in my stash for awhile, it's fun to get reacquainted and play.
I picked up 165 photos from Sam's Club on Monday, all from 2014.  I haven't scrapped much since the beginning of 2014 other than a few banners and cards. I'm hoping to put a dent in telling the stories I want to record, especially in the grand kids books.

I'm going to try and leave a link here for anyone who is interested, this is where I'm playing with the folks at Get It Scrapped for #Calvinball2016  not even sure if that is the correct hashtag, but hey, this tech challenged grandma is trying!!  (Give me props for that!)

Another layout done for #CalvinBall2016.  These pictures are from Easter 2014, Blake had been walking for a very short while when he participated in his first Easter Egg Hunt.  The annual Turner family Easter weekend picnic was held on April 19, 2014 at Celebration Park.  The papers used were all from my "green" stash drawer...that felt good to use some of that pile!
I'm trying to post pictures of my layouts on the Get it Scrapped website gallery.  I'm completely techy challenged, the re-sizing thing, the it's upside down thing, the I don't know what I'm doing thing....
