Thankful Banner

I got this idea from blog hopping and seeing everyone's super cute banners. My daughter and her husband live about 4 hours south of us, they are raising 2 beautiful, loving children. I started thinking about how to help educate the kiddos with the idea of gratitude and thankfulness... this is what I came up with.
I used 8, 8.5x11" medium weight chipboard pieces, covered then decorated. It's approximately 5 1/2 feet when hung-up.
There are 4 ribbons hanging from each letter and I have used small clothes pins in this example, when it reaches it's final destination I'm hoping they will use something more "secure" with toddlers in the house. My theory is that for the 8 days before Thanksgiving to add something that you are thankful about. A drawn picture, a cut out from a magazine, a photo, a letter, etc... I'm looking forward to see how the family uses and learns from this "Thankful Banner"

I know it's been a super long time since I've blogged, believe me I've been busy. I was gone most of October, I have lot's of photos and stories to tell with my future layouts. I will try and get you caught up when I get some of the layouts done.

Thank you for stopping by to check up on my life adventure, hope you have a wonderful week.

Here are a few of the things I've been enjoying...  I used the Martha Stewart butterfly punch as a screen, dab painted around it then "colored" the butterfly with stickles, oh, how I love my stickles!!  This was also an experiment with some doodling on my page. (a first)

This page was a complete accident but I have to admit it's my favorite so far...

This page was inspired from my class with Tim Holtz, these were some of the bits and pieces that were left over after completing my curio cabinet.  It's title is "All Over" because thats the way I feel about my passions, they are all over the place!

Thanks for stopping by to see what's up with Jill's life adventure.
Hope you are having a happy, crafty, healthy week!

The Spoon Theory written by Christine Miserandino

The Spoon Theory written by Christine Miserandino

Just when you give up all hope of thinking you can ever put it into words....

Thank you Christine for this explanation, having had MS for 23 years I've never been able to articulate how "I feel", now that my children are adults I am going to share this with them.

Thank you,

and the winner is.....

Okay, there is a little story that goes behind this blog candy.  I was feeling very overwhelmed last week with everything I have going on so I considered the idea of asking Kathryn if she would just do a give away of this collection during the crop...(with it being Halloween stuff I was quickly running out of time).  I even called her during the crop to ask her, she didn't answer, so no big deal.  Then I thought well if I have her give it away then she won't have the opportunity to play along so I bagged the idea.  Next stop make a post, girl get off your duff and make it happen.  I have been so blessed & stinkin' lucky in the blog world I really did want the opportunity to share the love.

Well, with the lead up you had to know that fate always intercedes and can you believe that the number generated was #21 on random.org and wouldn't you know it the winner is: Kathryn....congrats girl, it's kinda fun to have random.org repay the favor.  I'm really glad that I followed thru with the original intention of having blog candy, it has been fun for me, going to have to do it again.

BTW, Tuesday I won another prize, it was on the Creative Imagination Blog they are doing a blog swap with Hero Arts this week and it has been a bunch of fun to see all the great things they are creating, I will do a post when it gets here...
I appreciate all of the love and support that everyone has shown.  And for the new followers welcome, glad to have you along on the adventure

Thanks again to everyone, and thank you for stopping by to see what's up with Jill's Life Adventure.
(the next chapter involves me taking my mother to her 50th high school reunion....this ought to be good!!)

My recent adventures...

I have stated before that I am the luckiest crafter in the world, well just to confirm that statement I need to share some additional "winnings".
Last month Michelle at Everyday Scrapbook did a giveaway on her blog to promote the wonderful craft frames that she is now manufacturing and featuring on her website. I think you will all agree when you see them that this is going to be an item that we all need one or more in our world. (she is doing some all natural for us artsy fartsy types that want to decorate our own, so keep your eyes open for those) Anyway, I was a winner on her blog!! I won these super fun Fancy Pants Designs Fashion Sense Felt shapes one is 'Tis The Season the other is Fall Harvest. I've already made a layout last night using these fun embellies.
This is the layout I made using these fun felt shapes, it is a submission for a contest going on over on Kathryn's blog for her 12 months of Christmas giveaway over here: http://thescrapbeach.blogspot.com/ she is keeping us honest this month and making us work for it! We were challenged to use a specific color combination of this:
So I made this:
Speaking of Kathryn, I also won a random drawing (using my favorite number-of course) during a UStream chat on the beach. She gave away a sample of my "Never lose again bookmarks", well, she also sent me this amazing jean pocket, I can't wait to find the perfect project to use it on!!
Also at the beach last month on the virtual crop I won this amazing Close to my Heart stamp set and glitter fun from Ruthie (a.k.a. Scrapchicky). I'm looking forward to using this set I've never played with CTMH product and have always heard good things about them.
So, that's what has been happening here in the loft on Jill's Life Adventure.
Stay tuned because I'm posting my first giveaway EVER!! I figure since I'm so stinking blessed with all the love that I receive in our crafty world it's my turn to share it... so make sure you check back in tomorrow.
Til then,
Have a happy scrappy Sunday! (I'm off to meet Debi from Oklahoma - another Beach Babe, at Ikea)
